Raindrop Therapy and Aromatherapy

April 7, 2011

These forms of massage are particularly suited to stress-related conditions or conditions with an emotional component.  Raindrop is a unique technique used by the Lakota Indians.  Essential oils are dropped along the spine and lightly massaged into the skin where they nourish all of the organs, thus influencing each major system of the body.  Raindrop therapy brings the body into balance; the essential oils used are determined by the massage therapist to therapeutically treat the emotional disorders of the client.  Aromatherapy works through the client’s sense of smell.  When the fragrant essential oils are inhaled, a chemical message is sent to the brain which triggers an emotional response to align the energy centers of the body and release blockages.  Massage therapy is beneficial on its own; when used in conjunction with essential oils, however, these two therapies can be synergistically more beneficial than when performed separately.  Aromatherapy involves a massage treatment using essential oils.
